Part of cycling that I love so much is the random people you'll meet on rides. Today was no exception! Reaching the summit of my weekly trek up Transmountain, a gentleman on a bike approached me. He was pretty packed down with stuff and didn't look from around here. "Hey, I'm Boz." "Man, and I thought I had a hard time up here...you rode up with all that stuff?" "Yea from the eastside" Damn! Amazingly enough Boz is in the middle of a cross country trip on his bike, starting all the way from Atlanta! Now I've gone on long road trips before, once took a two week tour of the Eastcoast from Greenville, SC and looped around back to NYC, visiting just about every major city in between, before heading back down to South Carolina. It's amazing to take a trip like that, meeting all kinds of people and seeing how they live. That was one of the best trips of my life, I can't imagine doing something like that on a bike! Just cycling around El Paso has made me appreciate our city so much more than I ever have driving around it all my life. I can't imagine the adventures one would have doing this on a bike from Atlanta all the way to San Diego!

This is the adventure Boz has embarked on. Apparently he began his trek in early December of last year and hopes to make it San Diego by mid to late February. I think its simply fasinating! He has a mission as well, he is riding for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and has thus far raised $1,535. Unfortunately, he had already spent some time here and was heading out. He needed some maintanence so I told him to stop by the shop, explained its more of a hang out spot for cyclists than a shop but that we could help him out. "cool! ah man, that sucks...thanks but I better start heading out, but I'll remember it" Perhaps next time?
He's got a blog here on blogspot if you'd like to check out pictures from his trip thus far or drop him a note:

Good Luck Boz! It was great meeting you, perhaps our paths will cross in California next month...

Rebecca you are such a sweetie, thanks for the link on your site and whatnot. And by the way I had to brake a couple times while I was riding behind you, so step up your downhill game. ;)
